A Memorable Christmas

The kids were spoiled this year. Not only did they get lots of fun presents, they also got a new brother and sister. The day was very fun for everyone. I got a tea set, a cafe, play food, play pans, princess dresses, dress up shoes, and crowns for Sophia, Florence, and Giselle. Florence wore the play crown and matching earrings ALL day. She took them off for nap and bedtime and layed them carefully next to her bed.

Florence has been very homesick today. She was very withdrawn and sad until I called Junior (Akins) and let her and Diamond talk to him. After that, she was all smiles. It was so cute, she got into my material scraps and wrapped one around her head just like a Liberian head scarf the women wear. Then she took another piece and wrapped it like a skirt like all the women in Liberia also do. Then she took another piece and wrapped it around her back with her baby doll, just like in Liberia. It was adorable, but the cutest part was that she taught Gwynyth how to do it and they both dressed up like little African girls.

Diamond got a car set, a tent, and a few other things. It didn't really matter what new things he got, because he loves every toy in the house. Some little Liberian kids come home and hoarde food, my little African boy hoardes toys--especially ones with wheels. Right now we are both suffering from jet lag. While I write this, he is setting up all his cars, with drivers inside. He just brought out one of Sophia's shoes and told me it was the generator. (Generators are the only source of electricity in Liberia.) He also just found a pair of sunglasses and came squealing, "Ma-O, look my shades!" Also, he takes all the My Little Ponies and calls them his pretty donkeys.

Oakley got our old lap top, a digital camera, and a photo printer, and a r/c helicopter. Oakley is loving the laptop. Brian is loving the r/c helicopter. Chloe got a small sewing machine and a digital camera and a cook book and cooking supplies. She was so excited, she has been sewing bags and pillows for all the dolls in the house. Gwynyth got all kinds of hair and nail supplies and a new bike. Gwynyth has really taken Florence under her wing. She gave Florence a pedicure, which was a real hit.

Oma and Opa (Grandma and Grandpa Top) are coming today. This should be fun! Today I need to go shopping for shoes for our new kids. I also have to get D & F into the Dr. ASAP. I know for a fact we already have, pinworm, giardia, ringworm, and scabies to take care of before we all get it. Who knows what other fun things we will get to learn about!
