We were a little sad to see our stay on Green Island come to an end. It was so beautiful. We decided to go back to the beach area that we had explored the night before and go as far as we could the other way to see what beauty lay undiscovered. It was a perfect sunny 78 degrees and the waves were that perfect aqua blue that sparkles in the sunshine. I watched as my devoted little family ventured across the rocks and tide pools and I had the thought come to me that it was one of the most perfect moments of my life and I was quite certain that when I die and my life flashes before me, this will be one of the beautiful memories that comes flooding back to me.

Up on the mountainside was a little waterfall cascading over the black rocks. We, being the fearless wonders that we are, decided to scale the rocks and check it out.
After walking quite some distance around the edge of the island, we came to an impasse. A giant sea cave filled with crystal, clear blue waters mocked our efforts to chart the entire island. We would have swam across, except we weren't dressed for it and the tide was coming it, which made it too treacherous even for our tastes. However, it was incredibly beautiful and we stayed as long as we could--but ultimately, the tide forced us to backtrack to our car.

As we all walked along the rocks on our way back to the car, we debated whether we should spend our last few hours on the island at the hot springs again or another round of snorkeling. The debate was heated with advocates of both activities fighting for victory. However, the deciding vote came when Giselle said to me, "Mom, I love snorkeling. It's the most important thing in my life." How could a mother refuse that? Snorkeling it was!

Finally, after exhausting ourselves with hiking and snorkeling we had to board the ferry once again (this time with no killer waves to induce vomiting--thank heavens). At the harbor in Fugang we were met by the same taxi driver who dropped us off, who drove us back to the train station in Taitung. We had a six hour train ride to Taichung. We got in at midnight and then were picked up by our tour organizer and driven in a van to Sun Moon Lake in the center of Taiwan. It was almost 2 am when we arrived and we were wiped out. We were taken to our hotel which was a little eccentric, but that's the tale for Day 8!
