Oakley, Chloe and Gwynyth got to go on the Trog tour which was only for kids between the ages of 9-13. They had an awesome time getting to experience real spelunking. They said that the were on their hands and knees or even army crawling through tight passages most of the time. They loved it, because like their mama and papa, they thrive on adventure.
Brian and I took the four youngest on another tour that wasn't much of a hike, but we got to see some really cool portions of the cave. The girls had a fabulous time, but Diamond kept saying he was bored and wished he could just sit home and watch T.V. instead. OOOOhhhh! That kid knows how to get my goat! My pet peeve in life is people with entitlement issues, so I wanted to pull the kid's ears off. But in the end he actually told me that he thought it was fun after all. The rest of us loved the experience. It reminded me of when Brian and I took the three oldest, who were six, four and three at the time, to Wind Cave in South Dakota, which was also incredible. It's so good for the kids to be exposed to as many adventures and learning experiences as possible. I want them to experience life at its fullest and this was definitely a fun one to add to our list of adventures.
Afterward we drove down to the river and took the little ferry boat across. I was afraid our giant van would sink it, but we survived alright. The river was also flooded a couple weeks ago when Clarksville flooded and it was amazing to see the water line. The river was still high when we crossed it yesterday, but during the flood it was at least 25 feet higher and flooded into the forest and all the way up the slope of the road you can see in the picture. It's unreal what 48 hours straight of cascading rain can do!
