The Never Ending Vacation

Because Brian is going away for such an extensive period of time, we decided to follow him to Augusta, GA to keep the family together as long as possible. It is really ending up being quite stressful on me because we didn't not get a solid block of reservations and we are moving from one hotel to another every few days. Right now we just got back from a quick vacation to Atlanta and are in a Quality Inn by Ft. Gordon. Later today we are going back up to Strom Thurmond Lake to stay again (we spent four days there last week). The kids are really enjoying their vacation and are for the most part oblivious to the stressfulness of the situation. As long as they are having fun and being with their dad then I can cope with the constant packing and unpacking for a couple more weeks! Brian took the kids canoeing and taught them to swamp and unswamp a canoe. We introduced Florence and Diamond to S'mores--which they loved. We asked Florence what her grandma used to cook over the fire. She said they roasted marshmellows and put it with chocolate. Mmhmm--S'mores are an African staple right? In Atlanta we went to the Botanical Gardens, which intrigued the kids. The next day we went to Stone Mountain Park outside of Atlanta and it was very cool, but also very, very hot--99 degrees and 75% humidity. They had a 4-D movie with water and wind and 3-D glasses--which the kids loved and hated at the same time. The snake and bats terrified them, but the floating popcorn confused them when they kept trying to grab it out of the air. There was also a ropes course and rock climbing wall for the kids.
